Our Story
Getting engaged was the easy part.
But once my wife and I sat down to plan our wedding, we got hit with an immediate creative block. Each decision seemed to loop into another, more expensive one.
The guest list turned into a venue search. Venue searching led us to decisions about pricey catering, equipment rentals, decorations, and more.
To be quite honest, we only lasted a day before throwing our hands up and putting off wedding planning indefinitely. We were overwhelmed by the seemingly endless decision points and near-certain wedding related debt we wanted to avoid.
Around six months later, with the dream of a future family lighting a fire under us, my wife and I set to work. Together, we built our entire wedding from the ground up in just four weeks. With the help of our community, our own creativity, and lots and lots of Google Docs, we were able to pull off our ecstatic ceremony. Our wedding continues to be one of the best days of my life, which recently was only matched by the day we met our son.
Ecstatic Ceremonies was born out of my passion for love and belief that with the right tools, everyone can have their own perfect wedding, far away from the trappings of the wedding industrial complex.
Everyone deserves to transition into married life feeling confident, buoyed by community, and more in love than ever.

You know those career surveys people have to fill out as part of their high school graduation requirements? Well, when I did mine back in 2008, I was surprised by the result: the algorithm suggested I become a priest! At that point, I was hell-bent on a career in education, and couldn’t see myself up on a pulpit for the life of me.
Now, I’m by no means a priest these days, but sure enough, I am now an ordained wedding officiant! I am an excellent writer and public speaker, a motivated event planner, and a lover of all things special and spiritual. I’m passionate about creating experiences that usher folks into new states of being in their lives.
My ceremonies are tender, creative, and engaging. Throughout the ceremony design process, I tune in to what your love wants to say— and do everything in my power to craft a ceremony that amplifies your love’s message to the world.
